**If you picked a new number for use with MyRepChat, this article does not pertain to your account.
When you text-enable a landline or VOIP number for use with MyRepChat, that is called Hosted SMS. To establish Hosted SMS, our carrier put their unique routing on the texting (SMS/MMS) portion of the phone number to enable MyRepChat texting. If your carrier is a VoIP provider, most likely you contacted them and requested to release the SPID.
By default, when a new carrier takes over the voice and features of your business line, they put their routing on the voice and texting portions of the line. If the new carrier does not preserve the texting features route (eSPID/NNID) to MyRepChat, incoming messages will be interrupted, and messages cannot be delivered to MyRepChat until it is reestablished.
**Please Note: we are NOT notified if the SMS feature of your number is overritten by a new carrier**
Avoid this interruption for a planned carrier change with these two steps:
- Ask the new carrier if they can preserve the text (SMS/MMS) routing that is currently on the line for MyRepChat. Not all carriers are able or willing to do this.
- Contact MyRepChat support to notify us of the carrier changes and timing. After the port we will check and set configuration on the number to ensure minimal interruption to texting.
Reestablish Texting with Hosted SMS:
